About the Illustrator

Lynn Byrn is the "Bliss-filled" artist and founder of Sun Baked Studio. She creates artwork using acrylic and watercolor paints, as well as colored pencils, stencils, and craft paper. Lynn's artistic process involves drying layers of paper and paints in the Arizona sun, she describes her art as "sun baked." Currently, she is experimenting with adding luminescence to her compositions, incorporating sparkling elements designed to catch the light. 

Initially, she began creating art for herself, exploring various mediums and influences while taking classes. She sketches what she refers to as "ghosts" of developing ideas. As part of her planning process, she sorts her materials ensuring the paper and art supplies reflect her inner vision. She is continually surprised by the final project. In her opinion, the best art has a depth that goes beyond the confines of the canvas, offering a unique view of the imaginary universe represented through colors and shapes. Convinced that she didn't color enough as a child, she now makes up for lost time.

Lynn is a first-time illustrator. Her book, "Perched in Our Heart: A Family Read-Aloud Book about Loss and Healing," will be released in November 2024. Inspired by the author's stories of loss and hope, the illustrations depict actual people, places, and experiences. This story offers comfort to anyone, young or old, who finds it difficult to discuss the loss of a special person.
